Judge David L. Ashworth was born in Hartford, Connecticut.  He graduated from Gettysburg College and earned his law degree from Delaware Law School of Widener University.  Judge Ashworth was first elected to the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas in 1999 and was retained twice more in 2009 and 2019.  He presides over Criminal Court, Civil Court, and Drug Court.  Judge Ashworth served as President Judge from 2020 through 2024.
